Repo! The Genetic Opera (Blu-Ray) Review
Repo! The Genetic Opera is either the bloodiest musical or the most musical
horror film, you choose. The director
Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III, IV)
invited such talents as Sarah Brightman, Anthony Head, Paris Hilton, Ogre and
they altogether had a blast time by letting the blood and music free. However,
this 'happening' is not for opera lovers, because majority of the score consists
of sung dialogues rather than genuinely ear-pleasing tunes. Nevertheless,
this bizarre, comedic and goth film is a must-see for those who appreciate
art & creativity, but don't mind 'a little' of blood.
In the year 2056 an epidemic of human organs failure devastates the population.
The biotech company GeneCo starts growing and installing organ transplants on
a massive scale, but those who miss their payments are haunted by Repo Man
(Anthony Head), the legal assassin who 're-possesses' the transplants just
straight in the streets. Meanwhile the sheltered young girl Shilo (Alexa Vega)
searches for the cure to her own rare disease ("My genetics is bitch"). As she is
sucked into the wildlife of streets, she meets Graverobber (Terrance Zdunich)
and the family members behind the GenCo (Paul Sorvino, Paris Hilton). The horrible
truth awaits her in the end of her quest at The Genetic Opera, concert from the
wildly popular singer Blind Mag (Sarah Brightman).
