The most advertised features of "Killzone 2 Behind the Bullet Demo" are the time manipulation and the camera control. However, I find another feature far more interesting than the rest- the visual debug modes. In other words, you can view separate visual layers and compare them side-by-side to the final composited image. The debug modes are Normals, Shininess (Specularity/Reflectivity), Lighting, No Post [-Processing] and Depth (I just wish that rigging components were included too). The fascinating thing is that you can see how different components affect the final render in real time and move the camera for more details. If you're a 3D artists, then you should definitely find a playstation and go through the Bullet Demo for educational purposes.

Killzone 2 is so beautiful and polished that they could use the engine for making a full length movie- and film makers even wouldn't need a post-processing. In fact, Killzone 2 US TV Ad shows off its cinematic quality in the full glory- it's completely in-engine (read Q&A with TV Ad makers here).

Now, take all this visual awesomeness and put it on a flawlessly working multiplayer engine- and you will get the right picture of Killzone 2. So, welcome to the hell of Helghast, private! You will have a hard time here, but you won't forget it. Ever.

To celebrate the release of the Killzone 2 Steel & Titanium map pack, Guerrilla Games and the Playstation US team will be holding "Guerrilla Warfare" event on the US servers starting 10AM Pacific / 1PM Eastern, 5th May (US exclusive). The battle will take on the new maps Wasteland Bullet and Vekta Cruiser. Don't forget to ask Sony Playstation on Twitter for the event passwords. European event is coming soon too!

Guerrilla Games confirms the release date of the next patch for Killzone 2: "The release date for the patch is Tuesday 31st of March, at 8:00 AM GMT". There's a number of fixes and one of them includes the return of online bots.

Killzone Costume Kit for Little Big Planet is now available on Playstation Network. The kit consists of two iconic costumes and some themed stickers. (Finally Little Big Planet will look less cute- Helghasts will take care of the proper look & feel)

Killzone 2 Patch 1.20 (16MB)for has been deployed in Europe and few hours later it will be available in US as well. Killzone servers are under maintenance for 1 hour. The full list of changes:

* Stability issue regarding randomly named games resolved.
* Stability fix when rapidly tapping (X) can cause crash on spawn-select.
* Stability issue regarding Saboteur's disguise ability resolved.
* Stability fix on 'Creating game' with a blank name.
* Stability fix for repeatedly entering exiting game.
* The Ignore list functionality corrected.
* Unlock of "Frontrunner" Medal now functioning correctly.
* Fix for incorrect award of win to clan not showing for game resolved.
* Battle Replay for Corinth Crossing not appearing correctly on www.killzone.com.
* Issue with not being able to defuse the Search and Destroy objective resolved.
* HUD issue correction during Assassination mode when playing as a Medic.
* Controller input tweaks and modifications.
* Fix for auto-lock on of shotgun exploit.
* Fix for D-Charge issues in Campaign mode.

It's official- collect Helghast intel in Killzone 2 single player campaign and after connect to Killzone.com to claim bonus content. These rewards will be downloadable documents- from in-game propaganda posters to details about the wildlife or pages from Helghast soldier's diary. The best collectors will even get blueprints of papercraft vehicles (see the image above).

MTV published extremely interesting and the most useful article. They asked developer Guerrilla Games producer Sebastian Downie for a must-do list while playing Killzone 2. He listed 14 hints- and I highly advice reading them. For instance:
"In Maelstra barrens, rather than wasting valuable ammunition on the traitorous Helghast, step on them with your Exo-skeleton instead. Much more satisfying and you might even get a trophy for it."
In fact, it's one of the secret trophies!
